Panthers power through Tommies

In AUS men's hockey action from Charlottetown, the Tommies stayed with the speedy Panthers for two periods but were foiled in the third on two goals by UPEI.

The first two periods saw the Panthers pepper Jon Groenheyde with 34 shots but all they got on the scoreboard was one goal in the first ten minutes of the second frame.  Jon Bonneau (Cameron, Martin) scored at 15:44 on a breakaway to knot the game at ones.

UPEI took the lead for good at 1:34 of the third while the teams were playing four on four.  Shortly after Groenheyde kept STU close with some Domink Hasek like saves, the Panthers scored on the powerplay at 10:11 to seal the win.

Shots on goal were 51 to 23 for UPEI and 30 of those were good saves by Groenheyde.

STU will close out the season next weekend at home versus St-FX and Saint Mary's.
