Tommies fall short versus UNB

Sanza's goal on former Tommie and teammate Charlie Lavigne
The Battle of the Hill was truly a battle tonight for both teams but it was UNB holding on to defeat the Tommies 3 to 2. Although short staffed, the Tommmies were more than ready to fight the big red machine. Alex St-Arnaud was steady tonight in the Tommies' net as the defending national champions out shot STU 48-27.

UNB scored two goals in the first period but STU responded in the second when Colin Martin deflected one past Charles Lavigne off a point shot from Jon Bonneau. The score would hold up until late in the third period when UNB scored a wrap around goal that St-Arnaud would love to have back.

Steve Sanza scored STU's second goal with under a minute left with the extra attacker but the Tommies could not find the equalizer. There was some pushing and shoving after the final buzzer went but it didn't change the final score.

STU heads to PEI tomorrow and will take on the well rested Panthers, whose game tonight versus Moncton was cancelled due to high winds on the Confederation Bridge.
