Tommies get first win for Coach Powers

Coach Pat Powers collected his first win as STU's new coach as the Tommies defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 4 to 3 in AUS men's hockey action tonight from Halifax.

The Tommies opened the scoring at 6:24 of the 1st period with rookie Brendan Childerley (Thomas-Martin) getting his first of the regular season in Green and Gold. Colin Martin, Yuri Cheremetiev and Randy Cameron with the game winner also scored for STU.  Felix Poulin and Jon Bonneau each collected a pair of assists while Sebastien Bernier and Marc-Andre Levesque had one each.

STU held period leads of 2-1 and 3-2. Tommies were out shot 25-21 as Jon Groenheyde recorded the win. Tommies were .500 on the PP going 3 for 6, while Dal were 1 for 7.

Colin Martin was the Subway player of the game with a goal and one assist. Tommies return to action next weekend as they host Acadia and Dal on Friday and Saturday. Start time for both games 7:00 PM. See YOU at the Grant-Harvey.

In women's hockey action the Tommies lost a tight 1 - 0 affair against the same Dalhousie Tigers.  Rookie Makayla Campbell was strong in her regular season debut for STU.
