Tommies move back into the win column

Powered by a a 4 point performance by returning Captain Kayla Blackmore, the St. Thomas Tommies defeated the SMU Huskies 7 to 1 this afternoon at the LBR.

Saint Mary's would score their first and only goal past Julia Sharun 59 seconds into the game off the stick of Cailyn Byers. STU replied at 14:10 on a second attempt goal by Renata Mastna to even things up. The teams headed into the second period tied at ones.

The Tommies would dominate the rest of the game but it took until 12:08 of the period for Cassidy McTaggart, with her first as a Tommie, to get their second goal and eventual game winner. Katie Brewster (Blackmore, D. Miller) and Carly Critch (Brewster, Blackmore), with her first, staked STU to a 4 - 1 lead after two periods.

St. Thomas pulled away in the third with three more goals scored by Dani Miller (Blackmore, Steinert), Kayla Blackmore (Brewster), and Cassidy McTaggart (unassisted) with her second of the game. Julia Sharun gets the win facing 23 shots. STU had 39.

The Tommies are back in action tomorrow afternoon against St-FX. The game will be live on Tommies TV.
