Tommies fall to X-Men

The Tommies lost another must win game in Antigonish tonight falling to the X-Men 4 to 2. The Dalhousie Tigers lost to Moncton 3 to 1. STU is still one point behind Dalhousie for the final playoff position and will face the Tigers tomorrow night.

Tonight at Keating Millennium Centre, the X-men took a 1 to 0 lead into the second period on a goal by Murdock McLellan. Tyler Dietrich scored on the PP 23 seconds into the 2nd with assists to Ryan Lehr and Matt Ealges. STU went ahead, again on the PP, when David Crossman scored his first of the season from Lehr and Max Chamberland. X responded 42 seconds later on their own PP to tie the game at 2. The score would remain deadlock until the third period.

At 3:43 of the final frame, Bret Robertson beat his man behind the Tommies net and sent a pass out front to Nick Pageau, who fired a shot past a helpless Charles Lavigne. It proved to be the winner as X would score into the empty net to cement the victory.

Final shots on goal favoured X 36 to 33. Tomorrow's game against Dalhousie starts at 6:30 PM and you can catch all the action with Randy Corey on 95.7 The Wolf. Fingers crossed everybody!!

  1. The Tommies needed to win both of their weekend games. They're dead in the water for playoffs considering they play Saint Mary's and Acadia twice more to finish off their schedule. Moncton seems to be making a move right now, too. If the Tommies don't win against Dal, they're destined for eighth place, mark my words

  2. The big advantage for STU is that they are done with UNB in the regular season (and got 2 points from them). UdM has 1 game left with UNB and Dal has 2...all pretty much guaranteed loses...if STU can win tonight it will go a long way towards a playoff berth.

  3. I will not be marking anyone's words because stranger things have happened. Not a good idea to count them out yet.It not over till it's over or when the fat lady sings.
Anyone know why Jason did not make trip? Why Andrew A.is not playing?

  4. Les Miserables! Why were Andicopolous,Cassidy And Banfield not on the trip? I would say for the sake of the team concept that we here so much about that injured or not or whatever, they should have been on the trip!you know, all I see is more and more oderiferousous effluvia which means there must be a bulls****er in the area and I guess that we all know who that is.
Eagles continued spin that all is well at the ranch is wearing thin and if he is such a great coach as some proclaim how do you explain the continuous giving up of PP goals.
This has been the worst leadership situation in years and it is sad to see this happening.
Hit the road Eagles,it's over for you and your continuation is just doing irreprable damage to the program.
