Tommies claw back versus Tigers

On day 2 at the Universite de Moncton tournament the Tommies got the W, beating Dalhousie 3 to 2 in overtime. By virtue of the win today the Tommies will play the winner of ST-FX/Mt. A tomorrow at 11 AM.

The 1st period was scoreless as both teams had a couple of chances but neither were able to capitalize. In the second frame Dalhousie drew first blood on a goal mouth scramble. STU came back and tied it up about 5 minutes later. The goal started off with a draw in the neutral zone with Dominique Bernier getting the puck to Jillian Coughlin who skated in, beat one player to setup a 2 on 1 with Lyse Rossignol. Coughlin put it across to Rossignol, who went shelf for the goal. Dal went ahead again with a minute left in the period on the PP.

STU tied it up around the 5 minute mark of the third as rookie Katie Brewster scored with assists to Walls and Kelbaugh. Kristin Wolfe made a couple of big stops after the goal to keep it tied. With only a short time left in regulation the Tommies would finally get a favourable penalty call. This carried over into OT and at 1:11 Caroline Hammerheim pushed the draw forward and Kelly Matthews jumped in and put puck off the post top glove side. A pretty goal on the PP to end the game.

With half the team either having the flu or recovering from it's effects, this win is well deserved and a real gut check for the team. Way to go Ladies!!!
