The STU Men's Hockey program have announced two former Tommies joining Head Coach Pat Powers behind the bench for the upcoming 2013 - '14 season. Dave Reynolds and Quade Lightbody will again be donning the Green and Gold of the Tommies.
Dave Reynolds a native of Fredericton played four seasons on the forward lines with the Tommies from '96 to '00. During his tenure with the Tommies Dave won the Tommies Unsung Hero award in '97 and the Friends of STU Tommies award in '98. Dave continued to play pro after his time with the Tommies playing for the Tupelo T-Rex and the Lake Charles Ice Pirates of the Western Professional Hockey League.
Quade Lightbody from Port Elgin, ON will also be joining Coach Powers behind the bench, Quade played on the Tommies blue line from '98 to '01, and was a big part of the Tommies team that won the AUS Championship in 2001 and went on to the CIS National tournament that season. Quade has an extensive pro hockey resume' after playing for the Tommies that include playing in the American Hockey League, United Hockey League and the Central Hockey League. Prior to his time at STU and pro hockey; Lightbody also played in the OHL for four seasons, bringing home two J. Ross Robertson Cups with the Detroit Jr. Red Wings and the Peterborough Petes.
Also joining the Tommies this season in support roles will be Andrew Connors who will be a familiar face to STU fans. Connors a former on-ice official in the AUS for the past six seasons will be taking over from former Tommies Captain Matt Eagles the responsibilities of Video Coach.
As well as retired member of the Fredericton City Police, Tim Cane has become the new Equipment Manager for the Tommies. Cane, no stranger to hockey in the Capital City, is currently the president of the Brandon Oreto Foundation and the Fredericton Gent's League. Tim a long time volunteer in the Fredericton hockey community was rewarded for his efforts winning the William "Bill" MacGillivary Award for Outstanding Sport Volunteers and Community Work.

Two OUA teams highlight Tommies Pre-season schedule
Games versus the Carleton Ravens and RMC Paladins highlight a five game exhibition schedule for the Tommies in the upcoming 2013-14 season.
The Tommies start the pre-season at home on Thursday, September 19th versus UPEI in Pat Powers home coaching debut. On Friday, September 27th the Tommies play a road game versus St-FX, followed by a home game the next night, September 28th, versus Carleton.
The following Saturday, October 5th, the Royal Military College Paladins come to town to tangle with the Tommies before STU raps up their exhibition schedule on Saturday October 12th in Grand Falls against the U de M Aiglies Bleus.
No word on any Christmas exhibition games at this time.

TOMBITS
First Recruit - The men's team picked up their first recruit of the season landing defenseman Jordan Moore from the Pictou County Weeks Crushers. Moore was added to Saint John of the QMJHL late last season and won the President's Cup with them. He has good size at 6'1" and more importantly to a rebuilding team like St. Thomas, has a team first mentality.

STU Tommies Hockey School - You may have noticed that St. Thomas didn't have a summer hockey school this year. Well it seems the new Grant-Harvey Centre had a little bit of a problem with their new ice making equipment. Read about it HERE Hopefully their pre-season hockey school won't be affected.
