12 PM - Alumni game pitting former Tommies against one another in the Green and Gold Alumni challenge.
2 PM - The Ladies take on first place St.-FX. This game is scheduled to be broadcast on CHSR.
5 PM - Formal inductions to the STU Tommies Wall of Fame will take place at the Forest Hill Conference Centre. Take a few minutes and read this article by Bill Hunt. An excellent piece on Brian Jones - a member of the 1961 hockey Tommies MIAU championship team - and also a list of all the inductees.
The other inductees include George, the 78-year-old Fredericton native who led the Tommies to three consecutive New Brunswick Canadian Rugby Football Union championships in the mid 1950s; McAloon, a Stanley native who lettered in both hockey and football while playing a record six years for the Tommies - he played at the university level while still in high school - along with McKee, who was a football and hockey star at STU and went on to become one of the "Flying Fathers"; Mills, a multi-sport star in the 1950s with the Tommies; Toner, lauded as a legendary coach and mentor to a generation of athletes and a recipient of the Order of Canada; and Washburn, the athletic director at the school for 30 years, from 1969 until his retirement in 1999.7 PM - Puck drop on the 16th annual Lou Chabot Memorial Game.
Hoping everyone can make it out to these events. It's a Great Day to be a Tommie! GO TOMMIES!!
Great choices for the 1st STU Wall of Fame,I did work closely with A/D LeRoy Washburn and have great admiration for his contributions to STU atheletics,I wasn't a student at STU in 1961 but was already a STU hockey attendee as I had friends who had introduced me to that great brand of hockey;Congratulations to all.
