Jonathan Groenheyde, making his return after a three game suspension. |
The first period was scoreless and both teams looked sloppy in the early going. Moncton buried two chances at 2:48 and 3:06 of the second to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Felix Poulin (Sanza, Cameron) cut the lead in half 56 seconds into the third period but the Tommies would not get any closer.
U de M scored on the PP at 10:42 to restore the two goal lead and would score into the empty net to give you the final score of 4 to 1. Groenheyde was sharp facing 42 shots while STU sent 34 shots the other way.
The Tommies are off this weekend as the AUS all-star game will take centre stage on Friday night at 7PM from the Grant-Harvey Centre.
