Lady Tommies Topple Mount A.

The Lady Tommies completed the home opening weekend sweep by taking down the Mt. Allison Mounties today at the Grant-Harvey Centre. This takes the Lady Tommies record to 2-2 on the season.

Scoring opened early in the first period when Captain Katie Brewster (Kelty Apperson) scored a short-handed marker at 6:42. Mount A., not to be shown up scored at 12:24 to tie the game up at one a piece though. The shots were favoured by Mt. A, 10-6.

The Tommies started the second frame strong, Jordan Miller (Cassidy McTaggart) scored at 2:20 to take an early 2-1 lead. Kelty Apperson (Myfanwy Thomson) scored at 4:28 and shortly after that at 4:56 Jordan Miller (unassisted) added what would be the game winning goal. The Tommies took the shots on goal for the period 11-9, for a two period total 17-19 in favour of the Mounties.

In the third period the Mounties came out of the dressing room on a mission holding the Tommies to no shots on goal and putting eight shots on Tommies keeper Makayla Campbell. The Mounties were able to squeak two past Campbell, to make it a close game. The final score was 4-3, Tommies and shots on goal were 27-17.

The Tommies are headed to Moncton next weekend on Nov. 2 to face UdeM at 7pm and then back home to the Grant-Harvey Centre to play the St. Marys Huskies, Nov. 3 at 2pm
