Tommies moving on to semi-finals

The St. Thomas Tommies are moving on to the second round of the AUS play-offs after a tight 1-o victory tonight over the home town UPEI Panthers. AUS All-Star and rookie of the year Julia Sharun picked up the shut out win facing 27 shots.

The sixth seeded UPEI team came out hard in this game and really pushed the third seeded Tommies all night. Lyse Rossignol picked up the winning goal at 4:22 of the first period unassisted and that marker held up. St. Thomas out shot the Panthers 29 to 27 overall.

Three goals were called back in the third period because the net had dislodges from the post. Julia Sharun was the player of the game.

In the other quarter final game from this afternoon, the Dalhousie Tigers defeated the St. Mary's Huskies 5 to 4 in overtime. This sets up the semi-final matches tomorrow between Dalhousie (4)and Moncton (1) at 3 PM and the Tommies (3) will face the St. Frances Xavier X-Women (2) at 6 PM.
